The differences are minor. In my opinion, both coasts of Costa Rica are fucking phenomenal. The writing is vivid and inspiring and a must-read for anyone interested in biodiversity. The nature preserve there is also beautiful - a little overly visited but there are sloths, coatis, and lots of other very cool plants and animals to see.

It really is difficult to find fictional books set in Costa Rica, but this one has a nice mix of the exotic locale with a generous dash of mystery. Good maps, reviews and recommendations.
