What is Capella doing to make their online programs more accessible to students with visual disabilities? The primary goal of the projects is to make study material accessible to blind and partially sighted students. Topics covered include: aeronautics and astronautics fluid sciences ; aeronautics and astronautics fluid and thermal sciences ; aeronautics and astronautics control systems, flow charts, graphs, and UNIX systems ; biochemistry, chemistry, computer science, earth and atmospheric science; graphs and shapes; mathematics and statistics; physics; economics, languages, life sciences, psychology, and physical education. These adaptive divices offer a blind computer user the chance to work with computers in almost the same way as sighted people. After submitting the form, the specified document will be translated automatically into the chosen braille format and displayed by the browser.

For example, instead of talking about rocks and showing images of different types of rocks, you should actually have physical rocks available in the classroom for the students to touch and handle. This gives the student a frame of reference to seat himself or herself. Many modern museums have tactile galleries and special guided tours for people with visual impairments. One year later the "Braille printing office" opened.

Many visually impaired students cannot see well enough to use a computerized answer sheet and will need to write answers on a separate sheet for someone else to record on the answer sheet. Through these centers, students can check out or rent hardware devices and assistive software. For example, if you are showing a picture to illustrate a point, you should describe the image. Below is a list of four ways that universities and colleges support students with visual disabilities, including those in online learning environments.

The students helped choose the themes, write text and plan the tactile content. Project Aspiro is a comprehensive career planning and employment resource for individuals who are blind or partially sighted.

The web resource includes career planning advice, information about education, profiles of people enjoying meaningful careers, and much more. Raise expectations so that the school team expects the same from the partially sighted student as they do from the fully sighted student.

So, through research funded for college students that are blind or visually impaired, the Lavelle Fund for the Blind gave us the ability to do some research.

For college students who are blind or visually impaired, the research showed that they are not arriving on campus as prepared as they need to be. supporting students in further and higher education. Our pages for young people offer advice and guidance for blind and partially sighted young people aged from 14 to 25 on all stages of their transition from school, to college, university and into employment.
